Michael Anton: Machiavelli and a tyranny turned inwards

Michael Anton: 📚Machiavelli, a transforming People Operating System and a tyranny turned inwards

Michael Anton is Lecturer in Politics and Research Fellow at Hillsdale College and the author of The Stakes: America at the Point of No Return and writes for Claremont Review of Books

Clips from our chat:

His strong recommendation and favorite reads are:  Xenophon  Montesquieu, Machiavelli And, to understand Machiavelli, read the ancient historians: Livy, Tacitus, Suetonius, Plutarch, Polybius, Cassius Dio, Josephus

Are we ruled by Roman tyrants with AI and drones. And would you rather be ruled by smart ones, or dumb?

Tyranny vs A well armed citizenry.  The empire strikes back. “If you come for the king you best not miss”

Is Michael Anton right? Do we need more pro-America propaganda or do we already have too much?

A People Operating System ruled by science

And, I grill him on Tom Cruise

All of my chats were initially broadcast on Twitter’s ‘Periscope’, and when that was retired, on ‘Twitter Live’.

Periscope was by far the best live experience. You may not have heard of it because it is not ‘monetized’, this makes it even better for me as I am not a monetize’r.

I archive chats and clips on YouTube and on Vimeo but that is for convenience and as a signpost to direct people to my own blog site. I’m cookie free, no IP scraping, no logging, no email captures or ‘click this’ and no ads and I’ve got no merch to sell you.

  1. YouTube is spyware central, IP logging, scraping, tracking and so on
  2. Vimeo It can be downloaded from there. It is commercial free, a better user experience than YouTube and fewer tracking tools and nefarious things deployed
  3. Periscope This is a great way to watch all the questions and comments in real time, there are hundreds and it’s a show in itselfÂ
